When a hot surface igniter wears out, a gas-fired appliance may fail to start or ignite consistently. The Meter Star H150 Universal Igniter is designed as a replacement for silicon carbide igniters used in compatible gas-fired forced-air furnaces, water heaters, boilers, pool heaters, warm air movement units, gas ignition systems, hot surface igniters and infrared light source applications.

This 120V, 150W silicon nitride hot rod igniter features a 1.97-inch nitride heating element and a 1.18-inch ceramic insulator body made with 95% alumina. It reaches at least 1180°C within 17 seconds, supporting dependable hot surface ignition when matched to the correct appliance requirements.

For service checks, a working H150 typically shows a continuity reading of 9 to 17 Ohms. The included 15-3/4 inch high-temperature lead wire is rated 250°C, 20 AWG and compliant with UL 10362 specifications. Before installation, verify the appliance voltage, igniter size, resistance range and system requirements.
